There are many things you can do with a click of the scroll wheel, but quite a few MacBook and Magic Mouse users may not be aware of them since these devices don't come equipped with a middle mouse button.

Life without a middle click

A middle mouse button has many uses, but it is particularly helpful while browsing. For instance, it allows you to open any link in a new tab or close an existing tab much more easily. When managing a lot of tabs or opening multiple links, it can save you a ton of time.

While a MacBook's trackpad and the Magic Mouse are impressive enough in their own ways, the lack of a middle mouse button, or something that can emulate its functionality, can be a dealbreaker for some.

Use three fingers to simulate a scroll wheel click

Once you've launched the app, check out its icon in the menu bar and select when a middle click should be triggered. A three-finger tap is the quickest method, but it may be prone to accidental activations. To be on the safe side, you have the option of enabling the function only when you click the control surface with three fingers.

I tested the app with a Magic Mouse, and middle-clicking was very intuitive considering that I normally only use classic mice. I got used to it in only a few minutes, and it made browsing considerably smoother.

For those who can't do without middle-clicking

Unless you've only used laptops or Apple's signature mouse, you probably miss the scroll wheel and the functionality it offers. Well, MiddleClick pretty much solves the problem, and it does so in a very intuitive way.

I am using Blender 2.37a on OS X (10.3.9). My mouse of choice right now is a standard Logitech Optical Scroll mouse. I am using the default settings of Blender. When I go to pan or dolly using my middle mouse button (wheel), it sticks on. I cannot regain control of Blender, and must quit (not cleanly).:-?
Anybody with any suggestions or similar problems? I haven't tried a different mouse yet as I don't have a USB scroll mouse.

Also I still cannot get yafray 0.0.8 to work properly with 2.37a. I have done some searching, but found no one else with similar issues. I have resorted to 0.0.7 for now, but I would like the new one

I fixed the Yafray issue. Went to yafray forums (genius!) and found that all old versions have to be completely uninstalled with no trace, and the new 0.0.8 installed cleanly. works like a charm now.
The mouse button…it's inconsistent. It never sticks in any other programs. I'll figure it out soon…
